Our team covers different backgrounds, nationalities and expertises which are: Business Administartion, Food Safety Law, Nutrition & Health and Plant Breeding. Combining our experiences and interests we aim for a creative solution to address the issue about food security and genetic diversity.
The tool that we designed in this project is an application that aims to engange citizens in the collection of in situ apple tree species in the Netherlands. By making use of citizen science, we make an inventory of different high stammed apple trees. Additionally, we raise awareness among the public concerning the value of crop diversity related to food security. The application is in a game format and is suitable for children and their parents.
